About Us

In 1999, seasoned prestress industry veterans Gary Schmidt and John Towell recognized a need for a hollow core concrete manufacturing facility in the mid-south area of the United States. Leveraging John’s expertise in General Management and Gary’s strength in sales and job site services (erection), the new company was born. Adding to their respective 20-year careers, they quickly hired Frank Troeckler in quality control and Moe Bertelsmann in production (each bringing 20 years to the table as well) and created Mid South Prestress, LLC.

In May 2000, Mid South Prestress began the manufacture of hollow core panels on two casting lines utilizing the most advanced hollow core manufacturing equipment available (PCE Elematic), servicing construction projects in Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

By 2003, Mid South Prestress had grown to become the preferred supplier of hollow core plank in several states. Due to the increasing demand for plant products and services, Mid South doubled its capacity and constructed areas for the production of precast concrete columns and beams in addition to hollow core products. In 2005, Mid South purchased equipment to recover and recycle production byproducts to further its strong commitment to environmental responsibility.

Today, Mid South Prestress is the largest producer of hollow core in the mid-southern United States and regularly supplies and installs projects as large as $3 million (Yazoo Federal Prison) and as small as $3,000 (garage floors) within a 500 mile radius of Nashville.

Our experience and dedication to successful projects makes Mid South Prestress, LLC the best choice for any project involving prestressed and precast concrete.
